Welcome to my Blog!

Welcome friend! This is my blog for English II Honors, I’ll be updating when necessary. I am so glad you are able to take the time to read my 2 AM insomnia induced writing extravaganza. Let’s hop in a time machine and set the date to approximately 12 months ago. It is incredible how much someone can change in a year.  Whether the changes are socioeconomically, physically, emotionally, spiritually or any other word that ends with lly. In my case, my change happened from within, mentally.

Running for Freshman Class President was daunting at first. The application process was tedious, the candidate pool overflowed and the campaign trail was a maze that I am honestly, still lost in. I feared the shame and humiliation I would place on myself in losing. I learned the hard way that interviews are definitely not my strong suit. Mine, in particular, resulted in tears. In the bathroom of course. My mother, being the formidable woman she is, always told me “If you need to cry, cry in the bathroom stall, don’t let them see you weak.” Deciding to devote my time to invest in the well-being of others was a decision that changed me for the better. I have a newfound confidence in myself and my capabilities. While persisting through adversities is where I learned courage and resourcefulness. Leading the entire Freshman class of four hundred and twenty-six people was a decision that was not without hardship. However, being Class President made me into the person I am today. A leader who knows leadership is not a title or position, but actions and examples. I am on a journey of self-love. In high school, we are all finding ourselves, who we are, who we want to be. So far, the AMCHS class of 2022 has fundraised over $3,700. Today I am the proud head of the Service Committee here at Agricultural & Mechanical Consolidated High School.
